Flowering Cactus

Flowering Cactus by Eureka Stamps

Hello Everyone...

I can't wait to share with you today.  This is a start to a new weeks Challenge at Twist of Faith. The theme is "Easel/Pop-up card" with a twist  of  having a special touch of encouragement by placing a scripture, positive quote/verse, or uplifting quote somewhere on the card.

I look forward to each week visiting your Blog's with a smile, excitement and tickled with joy how we each have our own style and special touches of giving our cards. I count my blessings each week I get to visit and meet new crafters who have the same love of creating and giving their works a special touch from what is within our hearts wanting to touch the person we are giving the card to. And even more...we get to share it with the World through our Blogs. How awesome is that.

This weeks Challenge  at Twist of Faith our gracious Sponsor is Eureka Stamps who is giving the Winner choice of 5 digital images.
How awesome is this!   Please go by to see the inspiration the other Design Team members are sharing and using Eureka Stamps.

The inspiration I chose to share with you on my Easel Card is Eureka Stamps - Flowering Cactus.
I am from Texas is part of the reason I chose this Flowering Cactus image.
The other reason...is it brought some happy heart memories out that put smiles on my face and joy in my heart. See...my Father who is now passed used to love eating these delicacies. I would see him  setup outside to gently clean the needles and skin off as he would have these growing in our yard.  He would have the kitchen smelling delicious when using them to make his breakfast omelets and homemade fancy dishes.
I will be entering this card in Challenges:

I wanted to share with you what I have been doing with some of my images to give them an extra touch of tender loving care. In this case...giving it dimension by using my McGill embossing tools. Seems like with each image I try something different when using the technique of stamp 3-D paper piecing. This image I kept whole when cutting it and dimension embossed certain areas so the blooming flowers would pop. The shadowed image is the bottom layer where I glued the colored image.
Supplies Used:
Design Paper:  DCWV-Latte Stack, The Best of K & Co.
Faber Castell pencils and big brush pens
Image: Flowering Cactus/Eureka Stamps
Sentiment: Digi Darla
Spellbinders: Shapeabilities-Fluer De Lis Accent
Spellbinders: Nestabilities-Large Labels, Decorative Labels Eight, Labels Eleven
Memory Box: Blooming Vine (bought through Joanna Sheen )

I am entering this card (same card on posting just different picture angle) in:
 Cuttlebug Mania - Anything Goes-Diecuts
Diecuts Used: Spellbinders: Shapeabilities-Fluer De Lis Accent
Spellbinders: Nestabilities-Large Labels, Decorative Labels Eight, Labels Eleven
Memory Box: Blooming Vine
I hope I did not bore you with all my pictures...But I love this Flowering Cactus image.  The pointy sharp needles made me think of  life's unsettling challenges. We can be hurt emotionally, feel rejected, stressed out  but with God on our side who can be against us. He will  and can keep your spirit joyful in hope...patient in affliction...faithful as we pray and trust in Him.
-------------------
Wait...I am not done yet...I also want to share the way I dress up my envelopes as a gift package envelope.  Each one getting a different look. This is what I did with this one. I have a particular Friend already in mind to receive this card.

House-Mouse fun with Mudpie

Hello Everyone,

I am here today sharing my crafty needed dose of House-Mouse Design by Stampendous! I find them so adorable in their whimsical fun cute way of posing in there memorable backgrounds I had to jump in and have fun coloring one.

We have been having some really hot days here in Texas and sometimes I feel like dipping myself in a glass of iced lemonade instead of drinking it. This particular stamp was one of my first House-Mouse stamps by Stampendous! This one is Mudpie in 'Splish, Splash...A Citrus Bath'.

I rounded the cutout glass with a pencil to give depth instead of using my embossing tools that give dimension. Added pop dots in the center to give the rounded effect.

I cut the lemon separately and pinched with fingers on the stamp sliced area to give it dimension and placed two pop dots to keep its dimension.

I am so happy I recently got to build my House-Mouse stamp collection by having a fun scavenger hunt through the Clearance items at Hobby Lobby and I can't wait to play with those.   While Blog Hopping I found a  bi-weekly challenge blog called House-Mouse & Friends created by group of women who created it with their love for these critter stamps.  And to top it off this Month of August 'Stampendous' is having a House-Mouse Challenge...woohoo.

Today I am entering this card to :

Celebrating Women - Proverbs 31

Hello Everyone,
Antoinette here sharing a couple cards I made using images from Michelle Perkette StudiosMichelle Perkette Studios is the gracious Sponsor for this weeks Challenge at Twist of Faith. The theme this week is Women/Proverbs 31- Celebrating Women. To give you a little more input I am sharing for your reading Proverbs 31: 25-31 from the NIV/Women of Faith Study Bible.
Proverbs 31: 25-31
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.  She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

This first card I made I used 'Guinevere' an image by Mitchelle Perkette Studio

This second card is made using 'Thanks Mum' image by Michelle Perkette Studios.

Supplies Used on Both:
Images: Michelle Perkette Studios
Coloring- Faber Castell Pencils
Spellbinders Shapeabilities Floral Doily Motif,
Spellbinders Nestabilities - Majestic Elements-Radiant Rectangles,
                                          - Decorative Elements-Fleur De Lis Rectangles
Cuttlebug/Anna Griffin - Dry Embossing Folder-Circular Grid
Ranger Liquid Pearls
Flowers -handmade with scrap materials mixed with Spellbinder Rose creations & pearl brads.
                               ----------------------------------
I wanted to share with you some flowers I have been making out of two old jeans one blue and the other white, and old light blue linen top, some white shelf rubber liner that I
mixed with flower punches I already had then topped with a brad or rhinestone. I have been having some down time lately and not able to do much but recline or sit...so in those times I cut circles out of old materials and then cut slices around the circle. What I loved about the white and light blue material in this round is that they fray beautifully if you play with the cut strips with your fingers or the edge of scissors.

I hope you enjoyed todays cards and flower making inspiration. Go by the Twist of Faith Challenge Blog and check out the other Design Teams inspiration.

Let's Get Sketchy

Hello Everyone...
I am excited today to share with you a new challenge to start this week at Twist of Faith.  The challenge is to design a card following a sketch. Jump in the fun...join in and share your creation.
The winner  will get a choice of 5 digi images from our wonderful Sponsor this week Digi Darla Designs.
Here is the sketch we will be playing with...come on join the fun.
This week I chose to use Digi Darla's 'Blowing Dandelion' image. Isn't she precious. I enjoyed making her come to life with paper and color as I made a wish making the dandelion sparkle as its petals whisked away in the breeze.   I thought how blessed I am to enjoy life's simple moments like sitting outside and enjoying nature thanking God for beautifully creating nature to be a blessing to us.  So look around enjoy your surroundings...Hope...Believe...and allow God to make your Dreams come true.
Inside of card
I hope this inspired you to jump in the fun this week even though my card design is over embellished.  Go by the actual blog at Twist of Faith and check out the other Design Teams inspiration. Remember when using a sketch you can turn it on it's side or however you wish - we only ask that the sketch be recognizable.  And of course don't forget that we like to see a  verse, scripture, or quote as a word of encouragement on your card.

Here is another card I made using a Digi Darla 'Blowing Paper Windmill' image.  I thought he was so cute and I had to color him with red hair reminding me of  one of my cousins cutie pie sons.

Have you ever tried starting a sketch style card and wound up with a metch....well that's what I am calling this design...the sketch is there I just did my embellish thing to it and now this is my overly done finished card.  I know metch is not a word but...its my mess/sketch and what I came up with and know it would be thrown out of the court as following a 'Sketch'.  I think I am more of a Picasso...I see a nose where there should not be one. I need more practice/dicipline on following a sketch and clean and simple cards.  Please don't let me confuse you...but choose to find and enjoy your own creativity in the different styles that are out there and have fun. It would be a boring world if we all came up with the same design. Be creative...but there is a time to follow rules.  Thank goodness God Loves Us where we are and as we draw closer to him those things that are not like him are chipped away. Not sure why I got into this subject other than God LOVES YOU...where you are in your life journey...let Him in your heart.  There is so much to gain..beyond your understanding.
I would like to enter this card in:
Sentimental Sundays - Child's Play/Challenge #166
Crafty Ribbons Challenge - Use one or more circles

Hope you enjoyed until next time this Shabby Chic Grannie is out.  Sending Blessings of the Lord Jesus Christ your way. Take care ...
